Christine F. Smith is an Assistant Librarian at the Concordia University Library where she holds the role of Head of Acquisitions and Serials.
With a background in Communication Studies before receiving her Master of Library and Information Studies, and a role that manages all of the order, receipt, and payment functions of the Library, Smith’s interests combine the theoretical aspects of media studies with the practical application of these studies in an academic library context.
Her current research explores trends in unfulfilled streaming media requests (i.e. films that were requested in streaming but could not be acquired due to rights/licensing restrictions) and the possible implications to the future of academic media research as a result of rights holder gate keeping.
