The Society for Cinema and Media Studies (SCMS) holds the largest annual conference in our field. The Media Industries Special Interest Group recently announced that Patrick Brodie, a PhD student at Concordia in the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema, has received this year's graduate student writing award for his paper entitled “Hosting Cultures: Placing the Global Data Center 'Industry'". Analyzing the cultural logics of the transnational data center industry located in Ireland, Brodie will present this paper at the conference in Denver, Colorado in April. The award aims to recognize cutting-edge, outstanding scholarship in media industries and offer more opportunities for graduate students to develop their writing. Congratulations, Pat!
