For the Film and Moving Image Studies Ph.D. Community at Concordia:

The GEM Lab will be hosting a GEM Spring Symposium at the end of February 2026. This year we invite proposals from students at the advanced stages of their PhD research to share their work and receive feedback. Preference will be given to proposals that resonate with the GEM Lab’s commitment to the critical study of global new media.

Proposals of no more than 300 words should be submitted by December 15th. Presenters will have 15-20 minutes to share their papers, followed by a moderated question period. Notification of acceptance will be sent out by early January.

We also invite anyone who is interested in supporting the symposium as a respondent or moderator to be in touch.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact gem.lab.info@gmail.com for further information. Finally, if you’d like to participate but the February symposium date does not work for you, let us know.
