The GLOBAL EMERGENT MEDIA (GEM) Lab is a unique research platform centered on the critical study of global new media (including but not limited to digital forms and practices). The Lab combines media ethnographic research and experimentation, digitization and curation projects, and a commitment to critical social and cultural theory. The GEM Lab is in development during the 2016-17 academic year; full programming and access to lab equipment will begin in Fall 2017.
