Clemens Apprich is Visiting Research Fellow at the Global Emergent Media Lab at Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema and member of the Centre for Digital Cultures (CDC) at Leuphana University of Lueneburg.  He studied Philosophy, Political Science, Cultural History and Theory  in Vienna, Bordeaux, and Berlin, and was a Junior Research Fellow at  the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Media.Art.Research in Linz as well as at the Institute for Human Sciences in Vienna. During his studies he was actively engaged in the media art initiative Public Netbase.

He co-founded the Post-Media Lab (PML) and was Principal Investigator of Making Change, a joint research project between the CDC and the Hivos Knowledge Programme. He is one of the founders and editors of spheres, an open peer-reviewed journal for digital cultures, as well as a member of the international advisory board of APRJA and curatorial advisor of transmediale. His most recent books are "Technotopia. A Media Genealogy of Net Cultures" (Rowman & Littlefield International, 2017) and "Pattern Discrimination" (University of Minnesota Press/meson press, 2018).

He coordinated the 2018-2019 Seminar in Media and Political Theory and he co-led the Media and Paranoia Reading Group
