 Membership Information 

Please fill out this form if you have an upcoming group project or event that would benefit from co-sponsorship from the Global Emergent Media Lab.

Funding information:

Funding will be offered twice per academic year and groups will only be eligible to receive funding once per academic year.


At least one member of an applying group must be a member of the GEM Lab. (See membership application for more details.)

The average award will be up to $500.00.

Suitable funding projects can include, but are not necessarily limited to: graduate student conferences, film screenings, and/or talks from guest lecturers. 

Funding Criteria:


  1. The project must in some way relate to the mandates and research initiatives of the Global Emergent Media Lab. (Global Media, Digital Media, Public Culture, etc.)

  2. The project or event should occur in the GEM lab.

  3. The project should ideally be collaboratively organized (i.e. groups and organizations will be considered above solo applications.)

  4. The applicants must apply for backing from another funding body at Concordia that supports student-led projects.

Upcoming Deadlines:

Please note, the funding deadline for the fall term is September 30th, 2021 and the deadline for the winter term is January 31st, 2021.
